UGM AI CENTER Releases COVID-19 Research Platform

Igi Ardiyanto, Person in Charge of UGM AI CENTER, said “As an attempt to contribute during the COVID-19 Crisis, we provide a portal integrating several research disciplines related to COVID-19. One of them is research employing Deep Learning-based medical imaging for COVID-19 research rapid screening using Chest X-ray and CT. It is an end-to-end system with a very easy UI in mind.” UGM AI CENTER has developed a web based platform for monitoring COVID-19 cases, rapid screening based on chest CT or X-ray image and crowdsourcing chest CT or X-ray image data. This platform provides information such as total infection, healed and death cases in the form of numbers and a nicely graphical plot. In this platform, we can upload a bulk of chest CT or X-ray images to conduct a rapid screening of COVID-19. This rapid screening might help health workers to speed-up the process of determining whether a person is infected by COVID-19 or not. Igi Ardiyanto added, “Please be understood, these are progressing researches. The results may or may not conform with the actual ones. Expert supports are certainly required, since it is not meant to replace any human expert.” The rapid screening itself was developed using a deep learning algorithm. Deep learning relies on a huge amount of data to improve the model itself. Therefore, the platform also provides a crowdsource feature which anyone can contribute to collect chest CT or X-ray data. “Any collaboration in the form of data and research is invited,” end statement from Igi Ardiyanto.
